Bristol Balloon Fiesta

7th-9th August 2026

I’ll have these balloons floating round my mind for a long long time to come. Seeing them inflate around me on the main field was another level of colour drama. The contrasting shades in the light, seeing colours play off each other like I’d never seen before, the fire powering the balloons illuminated the material and the dark and light shades as the balloons unfolded was a treat to behold. I had to work so quickly to try and desperately catch and savour every second of it. It reminded me again of the importance of painting en plein air.
